A prominent educational institution in Laval seeks a Protection Supervisor responsible for overseeing the security operations by directing Night Stewards. This role includes training staff, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and providing support during emergencies. Candidates must have at least three years of experience, a DEC III, and be bilingual in French and English. This is a full-time, overnight position with a focus on fostering a safe environment for the university community.
Reporting to the Associate Director Protection, Student Housing & Hospitality Services, the Protection Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day operations by directing a team of Night Stewards within the Unit. Provides the best possible direction of comprehensive programs related to security services, emergency preparedness, fire prevention and environmental health and safety in an environment that fosters a sense of community, enhances student learning/safety and supports the overall mission of the SHHS unit within the University. Fosters a safe and healthy environment for students, staff and visitors while enforcing policies, procedures, legislation and regulations concerning building access control, thefts and incidents, accidents and safety training.
Primary Responsibilities
Knowledge and Language
Knowledge of French and English. McGill University is an English-language university where day to day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing.
Minimum Education & Experience
Other Qualifying Skills And/Or Abilities
Required: Security Permit (BSP) and First Aid. Experience in the support, training and supervision of staff. Experience in a security environment, particularly working in a university student residence operation. Demonstrated ability to supervise unionized staff as well as able to interpret collective agreements. Proven organizational and leadership skills along with excellent interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skills. Ability to work as part of a team. Proven ability to adapt to flexible year round schedules. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in French and English.

This is an overnight position (Sunday, Monday, Thursday, Friday & Saturday 21h00 to 5h00, may be subject to change).
