Job description

Atlantic Operations is a wholly owned subsidiary of St Barbara Limited, an ASX listed gold producer and explorer with mining assets in Canada and Australia.

We are currently seeking a Project Specialist to support the progress of future and current projects through engineering and permitting to ensure timely delivery of the project. The primary focus is on future expansion projects (15-Mile, Beaver Dam, and Cochrane Hill) and any additional projects that may form part of these future expansions. This role is a full time, permanent position, reporting to Superintendent Sustainability. This role will be based out of the regional office located in Halifax.

The Opportunity
  • Ensuring and monitoring safety in the workplace by identifying and addressing hazards, participating in improving safety and ensuring all reporting requirements are completed.
  • Supporting the permitting of current and future mine projects including but not limited to Environmental Assessments, Industrial Approval, Fisheries Act Authorization, Water Withdrawals, Wetlands, etc.
  • Supporting the execution and coordination of project studies and field work, ranging from Preliminary Economic Assessments to detailed Engineering and various Trade-Off studies.
  • Participating in project risk and opportunity identification, assessment, and communication to avoid adverse impacts on the project or the company.
  • Planning and implementation of key field programs, including acting as the field program supervisor where required.
  • Accompanying environmental inspectors and stakeholders during periodic site field inspections and following up inspections with appropriate corrective action plans that are communicated to site managers.
  • Supporting in community meetings and events, acting as a company representative, responding to questions about the project and engaging with community members as required.
  • Coordinating multiple projects in a timely and effective manner to ensure cost effective delivery of each.
  • Supporting in other duties as required.
