Project Manager | Estimator

Since 1983, Bremner Engineering and Construction Ltd. (BECL) has been a trusted leader in civil construction within the Bow Valley. Based in Canmore, Alberta, BECL delivers high-quality civil infrastructure projects supported by a team culture that is professional, collaborative, and committed to excellence.

BECL is seeking an experienced Project Manager | Estimator to lead and deliver civil construction projects throughout the Bow Valley. The successful candidate will bring strong technical and practical expertise in underground utilities, earthworks, site development, roadworks, concrete, and surface improvements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates, quantity takeoffs, and bid submissions for civil projects.
  • Review drawings, specifications, and site conditions to identify scope, risk, and opportunities.
  • Manage projects from award through close-out, including schedule, budget, and cost control.
  • Coordinate field crews, subcontractors, suppliers, consultants, and inspectors.
  • Track productivity, changes, extras, and claims; prepare progress billings and change orders.
  • Lead site and project meetings with clients, engineers, and municipalities.
  • Ensure compliance with Alberta OHS, environmental requirements, and quality standards.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, reporting, and as-built records.
Qualifications & Experience
  • 4+ years experience in civil construction project management and/or estimating.
  • Strong background in underground utilities, earthworks, and site development.
  • Proven ability to manage budgets, schedules, and multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Solid understanding of City of Calgary specifications and municipal standards.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with estimating software, MS Excel, MS Word, HCSS program and project management tools.
  • Prepare clear, accurate, and detailed proposals and tender submissions, ensuring full compliance with drawings, specifications, and owner requirements.
  • Lead tender submissions from start to finish, including scope review, pricing accuracy, clarifications, and final submission.
  • Review, negotiate, and execute contracts, ensuring alignment with tender submissions, scope, pricing, and risk allocation.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation is considered an asset.
