A government agency in Canada is seeking a Fisheries Technician for a seasonal position based in Yukon. The role involves supporting fisheries programs through fieldwork, data analysis, and public engagement. The ideal candidate will have a degree in biology or environmental sciences, along with experience in fisheries management and data analysis. Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills are essential. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to sustainable management of Yukon’s fisheries.
Please note, this is a seasonal position, working 75 hours biweekly, typically from early April to late September.

As the Fisheries Technician, you’ll support our vision and values by providing technical and logistical support for a range of programs within the Fisheries unit including conducting fisheries inventories, data analyses, report writing, and public outreach.
The successful candidate will have strong organizational skills, a well-developed sense of self‑motivation, and excellent time management skills. The candidate will have a strong understanding of the biology and habitat requirements of freshwater fish in Yukon and the principles of fisheries management. The candidate will have biological fieldwork experience, data entry and management experience, as well as technical experience in the care and maintenance of fisheries field equipment. The candidate will also have considerable analysis, writing and computer skills to allow them to effectively analyze, report on, and communicate technical information.

Job Requirements: Lifting of heavy objects, and travel by vehicle/aircraft to remote locations are requirements of this position.
Conditions of Employment: Valid Yukon Class 5 driver’s licence, Pleasure craft operator card within the first six months of employment.
