A territorial government agency is seeking a Program Coordinator in Hay River, responsible for supervising a program delivery officer and delivering structured daily programs for persons in custody, integrating traditional Indigenous values. The ideal candidate has a diploma or related education and relevant facilitation experience in corrections. This role is vital for promoting rehabilitation through a therapeutic approach.

The mandate of the Department of Justice is to administer justice, including policing, community justice, victims services and corrections in the Northwest Territories. This mandate will be carried out in a manner which respects community and indigenous values and encourages communities to assume increasing responsibilities.
The Program Coordinator is located in Hay River at the South Mackenzie Correctional Centre (SMCC), and reports to the Deputy Warden working in collaboration with institutional staff, persons in the custody, community Elders, and other agencies to deliver a structured daily program schedule for persons in custody. This position will supervise one (1) Program Delivery Officer. The TC Program is designed to target criminogenic needs through a therapeutic setting, utilizing traditional Indigenous values and principles, teachings and activities, combined with core criminogenic programs through four key phases. Three of the phases occur within the Therapeutic Community and the final phase occurs in the community of release.

A Diploma in a related field combined and two years of program facilitation experience within the last five (5) years.

The Program Coordinator will be required to obtain and maintain certification in specialized program areas. Incumbent must successfully meet qualification for current program modules within six months of employment. Failure to meet qualification within this period may result in termination. Formal training and refreshers will be provided to suitable candidates by the Corrections Division.
