The Advanced Design group leads the conceptual studies and preliminary design of all new products at Bombardier. The team is also heavily involved in research projects covering various new technologies that will shape the future of aerospace.

  • Participate in the conceptual design and performance analysis of various aircraft configurations and take part in associated activities.
  • Help determine detailed requirements and formulate the design problem.
  • Establish performance parameters and measurable measures of merit for functional requirements.
  • Utilize a Multi-Disciplinary-Optimization (MDO) process, focusing on aircraft sizing and aircraft integration.
  • Explore multiple concepts and decide on a single design concept using a systematic decision-making process (trade study) model.
  • Take part in tradeoff studies during the early design phases.
  • Liaise with internal and external partners on a technical basis on configuration design-related topics.
  • Provide cost estimates, risk analyses and certification plan.
  • Perform technical Competitive Intelligence studies and investigations.
  • Contribute to the development of numerical tools for analysis and predictions.
How to thrive in this role?
  • You have a Master or Doctorate degree in Aerospace or Aeronautical engineering.
  • You have experience in aircraft sizing/conceptual design as well as a good knowledge in aerodynamics, performance or stability & control.
  • You have experience in aircraft integration.
  • You have knowledge and experience with unconventional aircraft configurations.
  • You have experience in Python coding.
  • Experience with Siemens NX is an asset.
  • You are open minded, curious, rigorous and methodical.
  • You are able to work autonomously, take initiative and demonstrate entrepreneurship.
  • You strive for harmonious cohesive teamwork and support knowledge sharing amongst team members.

The opening is for a position based in Montreal (Québec, Canada). Work is performed in a hybrid mode (2 days at the office, 3 days tele‑working).
