Overview: The Production Planner, part of the Planning and Materials team, is responsible for ensuring that production jobs are delivered on time to customers while meeting high quality standards. They act as the interface between production, logistics, quality, procurement and the program manager.

Key Responsibilities
  • Scheduling the release of production jobs and tracking their progress through internal and external work centers while using the MRP system and available scheduling tools.
  • Maintaining the production schedule in the ERP system and working with recovery plans for assigned programs.
  • Monitoring that production targets are met daily to ensure on-time delivery of products.
  • Reviewing and analyzing capacity requirements per the production plan and managing potential bottleneck work centers through flow monitoring.
  • Using Kaizen and Lean principles to ensure that production parts move in the most efficient way.
  • Creating and maintaining detailed schedules for machining, blending, assembly and inspection work centers.
  • Establishing priority lists and resolving conflicts in priorities.
  • Discussing capacity issues with production and master scheduling.
  • Monitoring key metrics to ensure manufacturing performance, including maintenance of accurate inventory counts and timely closure of work orders.
  • Preparing for and participating in daily planning/production meetings and weekly execution reviews.
  • Resolving daily problems through analysis and troubleshooting of issues related to the key metrics.
  • Defining and following up action plans to improve lead-times and bottlenecks.
  • Liaising with customers on project deliveries and day-to-day project matters.
  • Preparing logistics documentation including Delivery Notes and other required paperwork for customer shipments.
  • Participating in and supporting Lean initiatives.
Qualifications
  • Certificate or Diploma in Operations or Inventory Management or similar field.
  • 5 years of previous related experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Courses or designation in APICS considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of an ERP/MRP system is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Lean, Kaizen and Kanban principles is considered an asset.
  • Ability to use MS Office tools such as Outlook, Excel, Word.
  • Ability to analyze, interpret and evaluate information.
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize.
  • Ability to creatively problem solve and troubleshoot.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proactive team-player in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Good written and spoken English.

Terms of Employment

Permanent and full time (40 hours per week)

Successful candidates will be required to successfully complete a Canadian Criminal Record Verification and a Security Assessment under the Canadian Controlled Goods Program. Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada.
