About Vessl Prosthetics: At Vessl, we’re redefining prosthetic technology with a socket system that automatically adapts to the user’s limb volume, creating a better fit and a better life for amputees. We’re a growing medtech startup with big ambitions — and we’re building a team of people who thrive on solving hard problems, balancing competing priorities, and delivering products that make a real impact. Our culture is effortless, practical, welcoming, and empowering. We value safety and durability in everything we create, but we also believe innovation should feel intuitive and human.

The Role

We’re looking for a Product Engineering Manager to lead our engineering team and oversee supplier and contract manufacturer relationships. You’ll guide projects from concept through to production, balancing technical depth with project management, and ensuring that quality and timelines are never compromised. This is a highly hands-on leadership role: you’ll manage a small team from day one, work directly with our CTO, and be a key driver of how our products are designed, built, and scaled.

Responsibilities

Lead and mentor a small team of engineers, fostering collaboration, accountability, and growth.

Manage relationships with contract manufacturers and suppliers, ensuring parts and assemblies meet our quality and performance standards.

Oversee and coordinate product development projects, driving them to completion on time and within scope.

Identify, assess, and mitigate risks in design, supply chain, and timelines.

Balance competing priorities — technical challenges, cost, and speed — to keep projects moving forward.

Collaborate cross-functionally with design, quality, and leadership teams to align engineering with company goals.

Travel as needed (approximately 10–20% of the time, industry standard) to suppliers, manufacturers, and partners.

Qualifications

10–15 years of engineering experience in mechanical industries such as automotive, locomotive, aerospace, or mechanically-driven medtech.

Proven track record of leading teams and developing people.

Strong experience working with and managing contract manufacturers and suppliers.

Background in mechanical design, prototyping, testing, and production transfer.

Skilled in project management; able to juggle multiple priorities and deliver on tight timelines.

Hands-on builder who loves solving hard problems and thrives in ambiguity.

Strong risk assessment and mitigation skills.

Excellent communicator who can bridge technical details with big-picture goals.

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (Master’s is an asset).
