Job description

We are looking for a Plumber to join our Residential team in Yellowknife, NT. Reporting to the Facilities Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring that Northview’s buildings show pride of ownership and respect for our residents. The Plumber will ensure our plumbing fixtures, water systems, sewage systems, and mechanical systems are in working order for our tenants, and that maintenance issues are resolved in a timely and cost-efficient manner. This position involves working across various residential properties in Iqaluit, providing emergency on-call support, and periodic travel to Nunavut communities.

Responsibilities

1. Troubleshoot and prioritize work orders for maintenance repairs related to fixtures, water lines, sewage lines, and heating systems.
2. Perform preventative maintenance on hot water systems, domestic water, sewage, and heating systems.
3. Identify and perform capital replacements for larger system components.
4. Respond to emergencies and after-hours requests.
5. Record, log, and generate requisitions for parts and materials.
6. Supervise subcontract labor when needed.
7. Assist with and perform suite renovations and upgrades.
8. Participate in routine non-plumbing maintenance tasks.
9. Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs.
10. Ensure all properties comply with Northview’s health and safety standards and are mechanically sound.
11. Perform other duties as assigned by the manager.

Qualifications

1. Licensed Journeyman Plumber.
2. Experience with heating, hot water systems, renovations, and repairs.
3. Ability to work independently, take initiative, and pride in your work.
4. Strong troubleshooting skills and problem-solving abilities.
5. Ability to work safely and efficiently under pressure.
6. Excellent customer service skills and a pleasant demeanor.
7. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted.
8. Criminal record check with no relevant convictions.
9. Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
