Overview

Your Opportunity:
Situated on the southern shore of Sylvan Lake, The Town of Sylvan Lake is located just 18 kilometers west of Red Deer. The Town is ideally located on the Calgary-Edmonton Corridor, with both Calgary and Edmonton less than 150km away to the north and south of the Town. Sylvan Lake has a population of 14,816 and is home to over 560 licensed business and amenities including the Nexsource Centre complete with arenas, curling rink, indoor running track and training facilities, indoor playground and swimming pool with a climbing wall. Downtown boast a lakeshore trail and several unique shops and restaurants. Because of its lovely location Sylvan Lake is home to many summer and winter sports unique to its location. As a Physical Therapist I in this community role, your time will be spent in Home Care and Outpatient services. Much of your work will be independent, although you will be expected to communicate and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team regarding clients registered to the Home Care service stream, as well as community partners. In this role you will be supported by the Allied Health Area Manager and Physiotherapy Professional Practice Lead, with opportunities to connect with professional in surrounding areas. You will provide clinical direction to a Therapy Assistant and may, on occasion, be offered the opportunity to share the responsibility for mentoring Physiotherapy or Therapy Assistant students.

Description

As the Physiotherapist I (PT), you will provide therapeutic interventions to enable clients to achieve optimum physical function and independence in development, disease, disability, chronic conditions, illness and functional decline. You will provide intervention (i.e. prevention, triage, screening, assessment, diagnosis, goal setting, treatment, management, education, consultation, fostering resourcefulness, case management, referral and transition support to individuals, groups, populations and communities. You will include clients and families as integral members of the health care team, encouraging their active participation in all aspects of care. The PT collaborates with patient(s) and families in determining, implementing and evaluating appropriate rehabilitation strategies. You will participate in a variety of interprofessional teams to build awareness, enrich supports and engage in quality improvement; partnering with healthcare providers, patients, families and other stakeholders to advance services for their clients. You will contribute to quality improvement and their professional community; participates in peer mentoring; and supervises students. You may provide clinical supervision to Therapy Assistants, Therapy Aides and Provisional Physiotherapists.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited university program.
  • Current registration with the College of Physiotherapists of Alberta.
Additional Required Qualifications
  • Eligibility for membership in the Canadian Physiotherapy Association required.
  • Heart & Stroke: BCLS-HCP certification required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Current AADL Authorizer preferred.
