The Northumberland Hills Hospital Personal Support Worker (PSW) provides quality patient-centered care, including assistance with personal hygiene, activities of daily living and mobility according to the plan of care. The PSW supports mouth care and feeding, skin care for treatment and prevention of Hospital Acquired Pressure Injuries, and works with patients who have dementia or challenging behaviors by implementing stimulating activities and engaging with patients as per care plans. The PSW works and documents autonomously under the supervision of a regulated health care provider.
Successful applicants must provide a satisfactory vulnerable sector criminal reference check completed within the last year, within the first 60 days of employment. Ontario Provincial Police checks may take up to about 10 weeks. Successful applicants must also complete the Health Care Worker Health review process, including providing an up-to-date immunization record to comply with the Ontario Hospital Association Communicable Diseases Surveillance Protocols within the first 30 days of employment. Northumberland Hills Hospital operates a mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy for all staff. Parts or all of the hiring process may be conducted virtually.
