Summary

The Personal Care Assistant (PCA) position is a field employee position providing one-to-one and small group emotional support and behavioral interventions to children/adolescents in a school setting.

  • PCA assignments available throughout Southern Chester County, PA School Districts:
  • Kennett Consolidated School District (KCSD)
  • Avon Grove School District (AGSD)
  • Oxford School District (OSD)
  • Generous hourly starting pay rate of $22 per hour and progresses to $26.50 per hour (w2 employment)
Schedule
  • PCA will work on all student days, full day, during the school calendar year
  • General school hours approximately: 7:30am - 2:30pm (secondary) or 8:30am - 3:30pm (elementary)

Primary Responsibilities
  • Deliver tailored one-on-one and small group support to students with disabilities, helping them participate in classroom activities, manage behavioral interventions, manage personal care, and access to educational environment as it aligns with the student\'s Individualized Educational Plan (IEP).
  • Implement timely interventions focusing on behavior management, conflict resolution, anger management, and enhancing peer interaction skills, according to the goals outlined in the IEP or positive behavioral support plan set by Special Education team.
  • Gather daily data and maintain progress notes in the designated format for each session with the child or adolescent.
  • Offer direct assistance to students to fulfill their academic, social, emotional, and/or personal care requirements.
Education / Experience
  • High School Diploma OR equivalency
  • Experience working with school aged children - preferred
  • Experience with autism and / or other special needs - preferred
  • Staff on assignment for West Chester Area School District must have a high school diploma and ability to complete a local assessment requirement OR Two-years of post secondary education (48 college credits)

  • PA Child Abuse (Act 151) Clearance
  • PA Criminal (Act 34) Clearance
  • PA Department of Education FBI – Use code 1KG6XN
  • TB Screening (within 3 months)
  • Education Documentation - Diploma OR Official Transcript
