Part-Time Elementary & High School Teachers/Tutors Wanted

Passionate about puns? Excited by literature? Eager to help students succeed in all subjects? Our hours count—gain valuable teaching experience! Oxford Learning Calgary Acadia is currently seeking part-time teacher-tutors for roles in our learning centre for the upcoming school year (2024-2025). If you love working with students, enjoy teaching language skills, and want to help others build their academic confidence, this position is perfect for you.

Position Overview

As a Teacher-Tutor at Oxford Learning, you will have the opportunity to work with Elementary students in reading, writing, math and French and/or with High School students in math (through Calculus), physics, chemistry, biology, and English. Our Teacher-Tutors do not have to worry about lesson planning, as all lessons are pre-planned. You will be fully trained in our proprietary philosophy and methods, allowing you to focus on what you do best – teaching!

Position Requirements
  • Availability (9:00 am – 8:00 pm); you won't be here all those hours, but we need availability
  • Commitment through to the end of the 2025-26 school year (June 30th), with the possibility of continuing through the summer
  • This role is in-person. You must be able to commute to this location. Relocation packages are not available
  • Vulnerable sector screening is mandatory

We encourage you to apply if you have the majority of the following requirements:

Education
  • Bachelor’s degree or similar certification in a relevant field
  • Third-year university students with tutoring experience will be considered
  • Working towards or having a teaching certification is an asset
  • Good knowledge of the current Kindergarten to Grade 12 curriculum
Experience
  • Some experience teaching/tutoring at a Kindergarten to Grade 12 (or equivalent) level
  • Strong English written and oral communication skills and ability to guide students' understanding
  • The ability to teach French is also highly desired
  • Ability to multitask and balance working with up to three students at a time
Responsibilities
  • Teach up to 3 students at a time in Elementary grades or up to 2 students at a time in grades 10–12
  • Follow the Oxford Learning methodologies and philosophies
  • Complete daily student communication updates and monthly progress reports
  • Maintain a friendly and professional demeanour at all times (create a fun learning environment)
