Job Description

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Operations Lead plays a critical role in leading the day-to-day effectiveness of Kamloops Hospice in accordance with our vision, mission, and values to enhance the quality of life of persons and their families facing death through skills and compassionate care. The role is responsible for overseeing operational functions including infrastructure and maintenance, health and safety, risk management, licensing, and social enterprise. The goal of this position is to ensure Kamloops Hospice achieves optimum productivity and effectiveness in business operations. The Operations Lead has a strong business management and leadership background and knows how to resolve problems quickly and effectively. This position is responsible for managing support services, as well as developing the organizational and program budgets in collaboration with the Executive Director. As a member of the Leadership Team, this role will contribute to the development and implementation of organizational strategies, policies, and practices.

Responsibilities
  • Organizational Effectiveness
  • Manage functions and enhance operational effectiveness in all support services.
  • Improve operational systems and processes in support of the organization's mission including, but not limited to, compliance and regulatory requirements, information flow, business process, and organizational planning.
  • Drive initiatives in the Leadership Team and organizationally contribute to long-term operational excellence.
  • Oversee infrastructure and maintenance requirements for Kamloops Hospice.
  • Organizational Leadership
  • Contribute to short and long-term organizational planning and strategy as a member of the Leadership Team.
  • Lead, manage, and coach staff and any other contractors on a frequent basis.
  • Ensure operational services provided are aligned with excellence, compassion for our patients and families, and our values of honesty, empathy, accountability, respectfulness, and tenderness.
  • Health & Safety / Risk Management
  • Manage the risk management framework for the organization.
  • Oversee Health & Safety program.
  • Oversee licensing inspections.

  • Participates in the on-call supervisor rotation.
  • Support Fundraising Events as required.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
Qualifications
  • A diploma in Business Administration or other related degree which includes a minimum of 3 years' experience in organizational management and leadership of people.
  • An equivalent of experience, skills and experience may be considered.
  • Preferred experience with healthcare quality improvement methodologies.
