Interior Health is hiring a Term Specific Full Time Nurse Practitioner in Sorrento, British Columbia. This term will be until August 10, 2026 or the return of incumbent. This term-specific Nurse Practitioner position offers the opportunity to provide comprehensive primary care in an established and welcoming environment to clients of all ages at the Sorrento & Area Community Health Centre in Sorrento, BC.
The Sorrento & Area Community Health Centre is one of many Primary Health Care Centres within Interior Health communities. These centres take a comprehensive and coordinated approach to health-care delivery, offering a range of services in a single location. Patients can access care from a variety of providers, including family health-care providers, physiotherapists, pharmacists, and public health nurses. The services available in each centre are tailored to the unique needs of the community. Position Details
- Posting: 0.75 FTE
- Shift Pattern: Tuesday - Friday 08:00-16:00
- Location: Sorrento & Area Community Health Centre, Unit 1 – 1250 TransCanada Hwy, Sorrento, BC
- Clinic Hours: Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM (closed weekends and statutory holidays)
Salary Range: Hourly range for the position is $74.74/hour - $82.21/hour. Interior Health establishes salaries within the minimum and maximum of the salary range based on consideration of the qualifications and experience of the applicant.

Key Responsibilities
- Diagnosis and Treatment: Assess, diagnose, and treat undifferentiated diseases and conditions, prescribe medications in line with scope of practice and regulatory standards.
- Care Management: Monitor ongoing care, order diagnostics, interpret results, and develop tailored treatment plans.
- Patient Communication: Establish care priorities, provide follow-up treatment, and communicate with patients and families about diagnoses and care plans.
- Collaboration and Consultation: Work with physicians and other healthcare professionals to assess, diagnose, and create treatment plans; may admit and discharge patients per organizational policies.
- Prescribing Medication: Prescribe medications within legal and regulatory guidelines.
- Leadership and Supervision: Lead and guide other nursing and healthcare personnel; provide education and performance evaluations.
- Research and Innovation: Contribute to research and initiatives to influence healthcare policies and population health strategies.
- Health Promotion: Lead health promotion activities and screenings for at-risk populations.
- Education and Mentorship: Facilitate interdisciplinary education and mentoring in clinical and community settings.
- Policy Development: Develop, implement, and evaluate policies related to nursing and interdisciplinary care.
- Palliative and Long-Term Care: Serve as most responsible provider in palliative, hospice, and long-term care settings when required.
- Safety and Compliance: Adhere to Occupational Health and Safety guidelines and ensure training and incident investigation compliance.
- Additional Responsibilities: Perform other duties as necessary to support patient care and organizational goals.
