Qualifications

  • Active practicing licensure with the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba, or College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Manitoba, or eligibility for active practicing licensure with these colleges.
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Training.
  • Knowledge, competence, and ability to demonstrate clinical nursing skills and concepts according to approved nursing standards.
  • Ability to make effective decisions regarding nursing care.
  • Basic knowledge and skills to work with computers and electronic software programs.
  • Effective problem-solving, organizational skills, and the ability to work independently.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain positive working relationships with co-workers and clients.
  • Satisfactory employment record required.
  • Province of Manitoba Class 5 Driver's License and access to a personal vehicle to provide service within Prairie Mountain Health.
  • One (1) year of full-time equivalent experience in a medical, surgical, outpatient care unit, long-term care, or community setting as a Registered Nurse within the last three (3) years.

Consistent with the vision, mission, and values of Prairie Mountain Health and its affiliate sites, the Nurse II provides comprehensive nursing care to patients/residents/clients according to established standards, policies, and procedures. Nurse IIs recognize and fulfill their professional responsibilities by practicing in accordance with the Canadian Nurses Association Code of Ethics, the Standards of Practice for Registered Nurses and Psychiatric Nurses by CRNM and CRPNM, the scope of practice as defined by the RHPA and the Registered Psychiatric Nurses Act, along with other Provincial and Federal legislation.

Responsibilities

  • The Nurse II practices within their scope of practice, expertise, training, and experience.
  • Complies with the Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA) or the Registered Psychiatric Nurse Act of Manitoba.
  • Adheres to the Standards of Practice (CRNM or CRPNM).
  • Meets entry-level competencies for RNs or RPNs.
  • Follows the Professional Code of Ethics.
  • Obtains and maintains relevant competencies required by PMH.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
