Job description

R.W. Tomlinson Limited is looking to procure an experienced Network Administrator working in our IT Systems group. This position will be responsible day-to-day administration, maintenance, monitoring and growth of our complex, fast-paced environment, so strong work ethic, troubleshooting and problem solving skills are imperative. Salary commensurate with experience. Applicants must provide examples of past work experience. A written exam will be administered to shortlisted applicants.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Ensure patching and compliance of all network devices.
  • Project Management.
  • Network Design and Implementation.
  • Network Troubleshooting.
  • Network Hardware Configuration.
  • Network Performance Tuning.
  • Identify threats and technical vulnerabilities of networks.
  • Network growth and device provisioning / administration as required.
  • Documentation of configurations and procedures.
  • Transfer knowledge to all IT teams as required.
  • Liaise with network vendors.
WORKING CONDITIONS

Standard office environment. Will be required to work weekends or evenings as required. Travel will be required on an irregular basis.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • 5 years experience as a network professional.
  • Very strong analytical skills.
  • Strong experience in network security (i.e. firewalls and intrusion prevention systems).
  • Familiar with 802.1x port-based network access control.
  • Colorless port configurations.
  • Hands-on Data Center experience and technical knowledge of network systems for LAN and WAN.
  • Technical knowledge of network protocols and standards such as: Ethernet, LACP, TCP / IP, OSPF, Spanning Tree, 802.1X, QoS, VoIP, RADIUS, LDAP, VRRP, HSRP, STP, IPSec / IKE, DNS, NTP, SNMPv3, SMTP, FTP, FTPS, SSH / SCP.
  • Strong knowledge of Mobility Controllers, Enterprise WIFI and AP management.
  • Experience with VRRP.
  • Experience with switch stacking configuration and management.
  • Experience with network monitoring and management (Airwave an asset).
  • Network policy management server experience.
  • Extensive experience with routing protocols and layer 3 devices.
  • Experience with MPLS configuration and management.
  • Hands-on experience with routing and switching of multiple VLANs.
  • Experience with High Availability systems (HA).
  • Hardware, software and network analysis (i.e. Wireshark, NetFlow) and excellent problem solving skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Experience working in a team-oriented collaborative environment.
  • Flexible self-starter / works on own initiative in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong documentation skills.
  • Ability to engage in multiple concurrent complex projects.
