Job description
THE CONTEXT

BainUltra is a Quebec-based manufacturer of high-end therapeutic bathtubs for 48 years. Our market is 85%+ American. Canada represents an underexploited opportunity, particularly in the specification and project world.

We're creating this role for two reasons:

  • Develop the Canadian market. Our Canadian dealers deserve more attention and support than they currently receive.
  • Build our presence in the project world. Hotels, luxury condos, multi-unit residential projects. That's where the volume is.

This is not a maintenance role. This is a building role. You'll be creating something that doesn't exist yet.

THE ROLE
Projects & Specifications (60%)
  • Develop relationships with architecture firms, interior designers, and real estate developers
  • Get specified on hotel projects, luxury condos, and high-end residences
  • Manage the full cycle: from initial specification to purchase order
  • Work with our internal team to deliver quotes and technical support
  • Represent BainUltra at design industry events (IDS, trade shows)
Canadian Market (40%)
  • Manage and develop relationships with our Canadian dealers
  • Identify territorial growth opportunities
  • Support manufacturer's rep agencies covering Canada
  • Become the voice of the Canadian market internally
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Project Development
  • Active and measurable project pipeline
  • Established relationships with Canada's 20-30 most influential architecture and design firms
  • Specification-to-order conversion rate
  • Presence at key industry events
Canadian Market
  • Sales growth in Canada
  • Dealer satisfaction and engagement
  • Optimized territorial coverage
  • Market intelligence (competition, trends, opportunities)
Collaboration
  • Work closely with the US sales team on cross-border projects
  • Feed marketing with field insights
  • Coordinate with operations on project-specific requirements
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Essentials
  • Experience in the specification/project world (5+ years). You know how the spec cycle works, from architect to developer to order.
  • Existing network in the Canadian design/architecture community. You already know people and know how to cultivate relationships over time.
  • Fluent in English (spoken and written)
  • Based in Toronto or Vancouver. Canada's design hubs.
  • Ability to work autonomously. You'll often be alone in the field.
The Right Profile

This isn't a cold-calling, high-volume sales role. We're looking for someone who already has relationships in the design and architecture world and knows how to nurture them. Someone who shows up consistently, adds value, and becomes a trusted resource. The kind of person people call when they have a high-end project because they've built that trust over years.

  • You maintain and grow relationships naturally
  • You're credible in design and architecture conversations
  • You follow through and follow up without being pushy
  • You understand that spec sales is a long game
Assets
  • Experience with high-end products (plumbing, kitchen, finishing materials)
  • Knowledge of the Canadian hospitality market
  • Relationships with real estate developers
  • Experience in strategic account management
  • French language skills is a nice to have but not critical at all
WHAT YOU'LL BUILD

In 2 years, success looks like:

  • Multi-million dollar project pipeline
  • BainUltra regularly specified by major Canadian architecture firms
  • Canadian market in significant growth
  • Replicable process and playbook for project development
CULTURE & APPROACH

Our approach:

  • High-agency: Solutions, not excuses
  • Direct and honest: Frank feedback both ways
  • Results: We measure accomplishments, not hours
  • Autonomy with accountability: We trust you to deliver

This role is not for you if:

  • You need constant supervision
  • You prefer well-defined roles with established processes
  • You're not comfortable building something new
COMPENSATION

Base salary + commission on projects. Structure designed for long-cycle relationship sales, not transactional volume. Details during interviews.

TO APPLY

Resume + short answers to:

  • What's the biggest project you've worked on (specification to order)?
  • Name 3 architecture or design firms where you have established relationships.
  • Why this role now?
