Municipality of Jasper Alberta Arena and Grounds Worker

Anticipated Start Date: October 2025

Position Details: Full-Time, Permanent

Wage Range: $24.48 to $26.56 Hourly

Overview

This shared services role is responsible for assisting in the daily, all-season care and maintenance of the Municipality of Jasper's transportation network, grounds, sports fields, turf areas, flower beds/planters, municipal cemeteries, and irrigation and water distribution systems. The role also assists the Arena Lead Hand and Arena Operators during league play, tournaments and special events to ensure the Arena is clean, appealing, and provides a safe, enjoyable experience for facility users.

Responsibilities

• Clean Arena facilities, including entrances, bleachers, dressing rooms, and washrooms used by patrons.
• Move game nets during floods; assist with setup and teardown of special events held in the Arena.
• Assist in emergencies when required.
• Maintain all grounds owned and operated by the Municipality of Jasper as directed; assist with the development of new grounds areas.
• Operate equipment necessary for landscaping and assist with roads and streets as required; operate and maintain equipment according to the preventative maintenance program.
• Assist with repairs and maintenance of the transportation network, grounds, sports fields, turf areas, flower beds/planters, municipal cemeteries, and irrigation and municipal water distribution systems.
• Perform routine repairs and report non-routine items to the appropriate supervisor.
• Perform winter duties, including snow removal and ice control.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

• English Fluency: Required
• Education: High School Diploma or GED
• First Aid/CPR/AED: Intermediate level
• WHMIS: Preferred; commitment to workplace health & safety
• Physical Fitness: Physically fit; capable of light to moderate lifting up to 50 lbs occasionally
• Driver's License: Valid Class 5; preference for Class 3 and Air Brakes
• Certifications: Forklift certification preferred
• Experience: Groundskeeping and winter maintenance practices; equipment operation for maintenance; heavy equipment such as picker truck, backhoe, or bobcat & attachments preferred
