Qualifications

  • Competent using SMAW and GTAW welding processes.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair machinery to ensure quality and efficiency.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on equipment and document inspections.

Night Shift

Open Positions: One (1)

Rate Group: $29.20 - $39.10 dependent on level

Includes Shift Incentive Rates: $5.00/per hour

Shift Hours: 11:00pm - 7:30am, working from Monday to Friday.

Please Note: The successful candidate may be required to change rotations throughout the apprenticeship period to support training & development

KEY JOB FUNCTIONS / ROLES / RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provides support in troubleshooting / repairs and system improvements (optimization) to ensure quality and efficiency.
  • Reads and interprets blueprints, diagrams, and schematic drawings to determine work procedures; identifies replacement parts.
  • Assist onsite contractors, as required.
  • Perform preventative maintenance (PM's) on all equipment as required; documents and maintains details of inspections.
  • Participate in ongoing cross-training, multi skilling activities within the organization.
  • Demonstrates a sense of urgency in achieving results.
  • Ensures that all operator safety devices function properly on completion of repairs, modifications, and installations.
  • Knows and understands process documentation and customer specific requirements, as they relate to this job function.
  • Install, align, dismantle, and move industrial machinery and mechanical equipment, such as pumps, fans, tanks, conveyors, furnaces, and generators according to layout plans using hand and power tools.
  • Operate hoisting and lifting devices such as forklifts, jacks, and Telehandeler to position machinery and parts during the installation, set-up, and repair of machinery.
  • Operate machine tools such as grinders to fabricate parts required during overhaul, maintenance, or set-up of machinery.
  • Rebuild and/or overhaul machinery and equipment, as required.
  • Confined space entry and working from heights, as required.
  • Use or wear all protective equipment required for the assigned tasks and in compliance with Company policies.
  • Follows and complies with all Operational Procedures and Policies including the Ontario Health & Safety Act and regulations.
  • Interacts with CFIA on a daily basis.
  • Follows and complies with all Food Safety regulatory requirements, including GMP's.
  • Adheres to Conestoga Meat Packer's Core Values.
  • Performs other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Relevant education and experience as a Millwright Apprentice (year 2- or year 3 Apprentice preferred)
  • Minimum of two (2) years demonstrated and verifiable experience working in a food processing environment, an asset.
  • Competent using SMAW and GTAW (tig) welding processes
  • Working knowledge (oral/written) of both English and Mathematics
  • Working knowledge of OHSA Standards and regulations
  • Ability to work in various locations within and outside the plant.
  • Good attention to detail, excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work to deadlines and multiple demands.
  • Ability to uphold confidentiality.
  • Demonstrates the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to work overtime to meet customer needs.
  • Ability to work independently and without supervision.
