Mechanical Engineering Analyst - Waste Management

This role will be based in Mississauga, ON.

Your role within the team
  • Provide design solutions and assessments for new, updated, and modified retube waste handling equipment.
  • Prepare and/or review design documents (e.g., Design Calculation, Design Requirements, Design Assessments, Design Analysis, Technical Specifications, Engineering Drawings, and Bills of Material).
  • Perform mechanical evaluations on complex systems.
  • Prepare and/or review Requisitions and Tender Technical Evaluations.
  • Ensure applicable code, standards and regulatory requirements are met.
  • Ensure adherence to applicable quality program(s).
  • Review and comment on supplier MITPs.
  • Respond to supplier manufacturing questions or issues/NCRs.
  • Support Management with timely updates on assigned task progress.
  • Interface with internal and external interested parties as required.
  • Perform walkdowns, attend client/vendor site visits/meetings as required.
  • This position could include some travel to various locations in China and Canada or other countries where manufacturing activities occur.

The ideal candidate
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer in Ontario, or eligible to be within one year.
  • Bachelor of Engineering degree from an accredited University in Mechanical/Materials/Nuclear Engineering or Engineering Science.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in mechanical design/analysis, preferably providing design solutions for CANDU nuclear reactor retube waste handling equipment.
  • Site experience in construction, or commissioning of mechanical equipment or systems for nuclear or other heavy industries.
  • Experience with supporting manufacturing/fabrication activities (e.g., troubleshooting, non‑conformance disposition, design changes/deviations).
  • Experience performing mechanical design analysis and calculations for heavy mechanical equipment (any relevant industry).
  • Experience producing engineering drawings for heavy mechanical equipment (any relevant industry).
  • Experience performing work to nuclear grade procedures and practices.
  • Experience leading/mentoring colleagues.
  • Working knowledge of/experience using nuclear Codes and Standards, including ASME BPVC Section III, ASME B31.1, CSA B51, CSA N285.0, CSA N286, and CSA N299.
  • Familiarity with nuclear power plant applicable codes and standards.
  • Familiarity with CANDU Reactor Technology.
  • Demonstrate good interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment.
