We are currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have expertise in rotating equipment and a strong background in engineering design, analysis, and consulting. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with a passion for problem-solving and a commitment to delivering exceptional service to our clients. Your pride in producing and reviewing accurate, high-quality, and practical designs as well deliver solutions to support the project teams in all matters related to mechanical equipment and materials selection will be a vital part of this diverse and interesting position.

Responsibilities
  • Provides overall mechanical engineering support to the project team from conceptual design through to detailed engineering, construction support, and project commissioning and start-up
  • Prepares conceptual designs and assists in the development of preliminary studies by providing expertise on mechanical equipment and materials selection
  • Provides design and analysis services of mechanical equipment including centrifugal pumps and compressors, air-cooled heat exchangers, pressure vessels, tanks, heat exchangers, and related components in accordance with industry standards and codes (e.g., ASME, API).
  • Ensures all designs and analyses comply with relevant industry codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Develops mechanical equipment data sheets
  • Develops mechanical equipment specifications and Request for Quotation packages
  • Performs technical bid evaluations and provides award recommendations for vendor supplied equipment
  • Acts as primary technical contact for vendor supplied equipment including client support and vendor management.
  • Reviews design documents and drawings for vendor supplied equipment to ensure compliance with legislative requirements and project specifications and coordinates further review by other relevant disciplines
  • Participates in project planning through the development of project schedules and person hour forecasts / budgets
  • Assists in the development of overall project cost estimates
  • Provides mechanical input into multidisciplinary engineering documents such as the project Design Basis Memorandum (DBM) and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
  • Develops departmental procedures and assists in continuous improvement activities as applicable
  • May be involved in HAZOP studies.
  • Supports construction RFIs related to major equipment
  • Ability to travel to and work at site as needed, may be required
Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. A Master’s degree or advanced certification is a plus.
  • 6-12 years of experience in mechanical engineering with a focus on rotating equipment. Experience in a consulting environment is highly desirable.
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) or Engineer-In-Training (EIT) with EGBC. Additional certifications related to rotating equipment are a plus.
  • Proficiency in engineering analysis e.g. vibration analysis of rotating equipment is highly desirable
  • Strong understanding of industry codes and standards, including ASME, API, and relevant safety regulations
  • Good problem-solving skills with the ability to exercise independent judgment in analyzing information
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a team
  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines
  • Highly organized with meticulous attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work
  • Class 5 driver’s license is required

Salary is based on an average of 37.5 hours a week. The competitive salary will be based on skills and experience.

Estimated range is between $66,300-146,250+ / annually depending on work experience.
