Responsibilities

Overall Responsibility : Operate automated manufacturing machinery, monitor and inspect the quality of all products in the assigned work area, and make minor adjustments to machinery to ensure consistent quality.

Key Accountabilities :

  • Operate and tend to automated manufacturing equipment, including robotics and fixed automation equipment.
  • Interpret machine readouts and adjust settings for material variance, quality requirements, and thresholds.
  • Conduct regular quality inspections to ensure products meet predetermined standards.
  • Assist with machine changeovers, operate overhead cranes to change machine fixtures, and set up pre-programmed automation systems.
  • Record accurate production data in computerized systems (parts per hour, Scrap, downtime, part traceability).
  • Conduct pre-shift work cell inspections to ensure machines are in good working order and safety/production concerns are reported or addressed after start-up.
  • Perform regular and end-of-shift housekeeping duties (sweeping, disposing of trash and scrap).
Qualifications

Education / Accreditation

  • Grade 12 or GED required.
  • Some college or certification in manufacturing or technology is an asset.

Technical Skills and Knowledge :

  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment is required.
  • Experience using visual work instructions to complete tasks independently.
  • General mathematical skills are required.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Previous exposure to robotic or automated manufacturing.
  • Knowledge or exposure to welding is an asset.
  • Exposure to ISO14001 and TS16949 standards is an asset.
  • Experience participating in World Class Manufacturing or continuous improvement initiatives is an asset.
Hours of Work
  • 40 hours a week plus overtime.
