Job description

POSITION GOAL:

Support all manufacturing engineering activities within assigned manufacturing cell(s), including implementing and facilitating lean manufacturing initiatives, ECO's, inventory management, contract reviews, standard work instructions, standards evaluation, and facility upgrades.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Provide manufacturing engineering support within assigned manufacturing cell(s).
  • Collaborate effectively with the cell team to achieve operational metrics and pursue remedial actions.
  • Maintain updates on manufacturing engineering tasks in the cell log.
  • Represent manufacturing engineering in daily cell meetings and weekly metrics reviews.
  • Design or specify equipment, tooling, or racking needed for manufacturing.
  • Review ECOs and support production implementation.
  • Assign default locators to parts within cells.
  • Create and train personnel on standard work instructions and hot sheets.
  • Maintain layouts and maps (plant, cell, inventory, safety).
  • Specify and oversee capital and equipment upgrades or modifications.
  • Implement lean initiatives like 5S, value stream mapping, and setup reduction.
  • Foster continuous improvement and teamwork.
  • Participate in SWAT teams to resolve issues across functions.
  • Conduct process observations to ensure fair time standards.
  • Plan resources to support production activities.
  • Validate and implement routing changes.
  • Review contracts for production readiness.
  • Participate in MRB meetings for non-conforming materials.
  • Initiate ECRs as needed.
  • Support process planning and production engineering.
  • Participate in certifications and audits as required.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Lean certification or similar experience.
  • Experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Effective team collaboration skills.
  • Proficiency with computers and measurement tools.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD or UniGraphics.
  • Unigraphics and Oracle knowledge is a plus.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office.
  • Less than 10% travel required.
  • Ability to walk, bend, climb, sit, and stand for extended periods.
