Qualifications

Manufacturing Engineer

Summary of Position

The Manufacturing Engineer plays a critical role at Glen Dimplex Americas London Plant by driving the optimization of production efficiency, safety, and quality through hands-on problem-solving and process improvement. They enable production teams by identifying and eliminating waste, establishing and improving process capability standards, developing work instructions, troubleshooting issues, and implementing corrective actions. The Manufacturing Engineer owns and maintains production documentation including standard hours, work instructions, and capacity models. Additionally, they oversee capital improvement projects, maintain facility layouts, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive innovation and improve product design for manufacturability.

Responsibilities:

• Leads a hands-on approach in working with production, maintenance, and quality personnel in the assessment, investigation and solution of production and process related problems

• Develops and maintains standard work instructions and other process documents to manufacture products to efficiency and quality objectives

• Determines root causes of product and process variances to develop, implement and document corrective actions

• Utilizes Lean Manufacturing tools and methodologies to proactively identify and eliminate waste, streamline manufacturing flows, and ensure “built-in quality” through the elimination of potential errors throughout all production operations

• Owns and maintains production unit hours, routings, capacity databases and production bills of materials in ERP and reporting systems

• Champions production labour, material and waste cost reduction initiatives to meet and exceed corporate goals

• Actively monitors and evaluates current process performance to bridge production outputs to standards while actively engaging production teams in gap closing activities

• Maintains facility layouts, material flow diagrams, and process capability models

• Oversees the execution of capital improvement projects relating to products, processes, and equipment; authors capital justification plans and documentation as necessary

• Leads design for manufacturability initiatives with Product engineering, Marketing, Product Management on existing and new products

• Other related duties as assigned

Requirements:
• Degree or Advanced Diploma in manufacturing engineering or related field
• 2-5 years of experience as a Manufacturing Engineer or similar role
• Proficiency in Solid Works, AutoCad, or comparable software
• Knowledge and experience in the manufacturing of sheet metal parts and Lean Manufacturing methodologies
• Familiarity and practical experience with mechanical systems
• Demonstrated hands-on experience working with production and maintenance
• Proficient with Microsoft Office
• Previous experience with SAP s4 HANA considered an asset
