Canada Running Series (CRS) is Canada’s premier road race series, offering seven annual events nationwide. Our events attract over 60,000 participants annually and raise more than $2 million for hundreds of local charities each year.

Using innovation and organization as guiding principles, Canada Running Series stages great experiences for runners of all levels, from Canadian Olympians to recreational and charity runners. We are seeking a passionate Event Manager to join the Resource Management team. The successful candidate will represent CRS through interactions with our participants, volunteers, event staff, and the run community at large both digitally and face-to-face and exude excitement for elevating the event experiences we curate. This role is perfect for those with strong written and oral communication skills, who are highly organized, and often described as a “self-starter.”

  • Key Accountabilities include but are not limited to:
  • Lead, manage, and mentor the Resource Management Coordinators, providing high-level support year‑round, creating their professional development plans, and offering guidance in their roles.
  • The Event Manager is accountable for the Coordinators’ performance and overall success.
  • Oversee the Resource Management team on assigned events and ensure all areas of the department’s planning, execution, and wrap‑up are being met.
  • Work with the Senior Manager of Resource Management on systems, process and strategy for the Resource Management Department
Participant Experience:
  • Manage the Race Roster System (Registration, Participant Data, and Results).
  • Collaborate with the Communications Lead on participant communications.
  • Plan, staff, and execute Participant Race Kit Pickup.
  • Recruit, plan, and execute of the Greeter Program at events.
  • Manage race timing and bib production.
  • Recruit volunteers and event staff for events as requested by the Leads of each functional area; this may include the use of e‑mail and phone communications, online postings, and in‑person presentations as required.
  • Set up and maintain online registration systems, application forms, and surveys (Software may include Volunteer Local, Office 365 Forms, Survey Monkey, etc.).
  • Plan and execute pre‑race training, including the creation and distribution of training materials and execute training sessions for volunteers and event staff.
  • Plan, coordinate, order, and pack all volunteer and event staff supplies (apparel, food, bus transportation, credentials, radios, etc.).
  • Manage volunteer and event staff check‑in leading up to and during event execution; this includes, but is not limited to, planning, setup, and staffing.
  • Engage volunteers leading up to, during, and post‑event, by creating newsletters, appreciation events, volunteer retention activities, etc.
Customer Experience:
  • Manage the customer support inbox and respond to all customer inquiries via e‑mail.
  • Provide registration support to customers as needed, which may include data management.
  • Create and update canned responses to improve efficiency.
  • Manage event‑specific automatic replies.
  • Manage and update FAQs.
Working Conditions and Expectations
  • This role will be based out of the downtown Toronto office. There is an expectation to work in the office at least 2‑3 times/week.
  • The Event Manager will be required to work some evenings and weekends, especially when executing events.
Qualifications
Experience:
  • Event Planning/Project Management: 5+ years (Preferred)
Education:
  • Bachelor’s Degree or College Diploma in Event Planning (Preferred), Marketing, Communications, or Business Administration
