Overview

Hexagon AS is seeking a dynamic and experienced Manager of Hybrid Compute Infrastructure to lead the management of our cutting-edge hybrid computing environments. This leadership role will oversee both cloud and on-premises infrastructure, ensuring seamless integration, optimal performance, and alignment with business objectives. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical expertise, strong operations management, and proven leadership skills to drive the evolution of Hexagon’s hybrid compute strategy.

The Location: This hybrid position is based in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

Responsibilities

As a Manager of Hybrid Compute Infrastructure, you would be responsible for:

  • Lead a team of infrastructure system admins, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations of hybrid compute platforms, ensuring reliability, scalability, and security.
  • Manage vendor relationships, contracts, and service level agreements for cloud and hardware providers.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including IT, cybersecurity, software development, and business stakeholders—to ensure infrastructure aligns with company goals.
  • Monitor system performance, identify areas for improvement, and implement solutions to optimize resource utilization and cost efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and best practices for data protection and privacy.
  • Develop and manage budgets for infrastructure projects and ongoing operations.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and trends in hybrid computing, recommending innovative solutions to enhance Hexagon’s capabilities.
  • Lead the maintenance and testing of disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
Qualifications

Must-Have:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in IT infrastructure, with at least 3 years focused on hybrid or cloud environments.
  • Strong understanding of cloud platforms (such as Azure, AWS, Google Cloud) and on-premises infrastructure.
  • At least 3 years of leadership experience managing technical teams and driving large-scale projects.
  • Expertise in virtualization, storage, and security within hybrid environments.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect, VMware, etc.) are highly desirable.

Nice-to-Have:

  • Experience with DevOps practices and automation tools.
  • Knowledge of containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • ITIL or relevant ITSM certifications.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, innovative environment.
