Scope of the Role

The Manager of Clinical Informatics reports to the Director of Care and manages the information technology and compliance related to resident care through coordinating the interRAI LTCF process and monitoring of quality outcomes and CIHI reports. Responsible for the quality of resident care and nursing restorative philosophy and furthermore ensures compliance through coaching, mentoring, and discipline as required. Also, this position is responsible for ensuring staff education, orientation, and mentoring to support the transfer of interRAI LTCF and Continuous Quality Improvement knowledge within the home.

Responsibilities
  • Provides an overview of Informatics on Continuous Quality Improvement and the interRAI LTCF process for new staff/students.
  • Delivers education and software training on interRAI LTCF, R=CAPs, outcome measures, quality indicators, RUGs, and reports.
  • Coordinates AIS certification for all new and annually re‑certified registered staff.
  • Works with management and the interdisciplinary team to ensure data integrity, efficient data collection, timely assessments, and effective data use.
  • Establishes data quality processes to ensure accurate and timely interRAI LTCF coding and documentation.
  • Acts as the Quality Lead (if required), overseeing the CQI Program, annual QIP development, committee leadership, initiatives, risk management, stakeholder communication, and reporting.
  • Participates in QIP development, progress reports, and quality initiatives.
  • Coordinates CIHI data submissions.
  • Leads the Nursing Restorative program and mentors Restorative Therapists.
  • Orients staff to the philosophy, policies, and criteria of Nursing Restorative Care.
  • Interprets legislation, monitors compliance, and supports continuous quality improvement.
  • Engages learning to enhance emotional self‑awareness and a person‑centred approach.
  • Supports the DOC/ADOC with probationary and annual performance reviews.
Qualifications
  • Registered health professional licensed under the Health Disciplines Act (or equivalent in another Canadian jurisdiction) with eligibility for independent practice under Bill 60.
  • Experience with adult education, facilitation, and identifying training needs.
  • Ability to work effectively with interdisciplinary teams and internal stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of interRAI LTCF; AIS RAI Educator certification required (or obtained within 2 weeks of hire).
  • Strong data analysis and trending skills, plus knowledge of Continuous Quality Improvement.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in long‑term care; supervisory experience preferred.
  • Compliance & Health Requirements: Current Vulnerable Sector Check (including a Criminal Background Check) completed within the past six months, or willingness to obtain one; proof of all required vaccinations; TB test results dated within the last six months, or a chest X‑ray within the last year. Requirements are subject to change based on Employer directives.
