Job summary

Reporting to the Director Category the Manager Merchandising Systems leads the strategic execution and is responsible for the management of listing and product testing functions within the Shopper Engagement Team. The Manager Merchandising Systems works collaboratively with the Director of Category, Director of Insights and Strategy, and the Category Team by leading strategic recommendations and decision-making impacts from listing and product testing teams. This is a key role for Shopper Engagement and requires intense cross-functional collaboration within the organization to ensure strong and positive working relationships. The Manager Merchandising Systems is also responsible for coaching and developing the listing and product testing teams.

What you’ll do
Responsibilities
  • Lead Listing team in being efficient and effective while executing responsibilities with excellence; provide feedback and direction with a focus on coaching and mentoring.
    • Have weekly 1-1 check-ins with each listing coordinator; finalize yearly priorities; triage day-to-day activity and prioritize tasks; review priorities, progresses and timelines with Category Managers; understand upcoming listing requirements.
  • Oversee the Product Testing Program and provide leadership coaching and direction for Product Quality Assurance Coordinator.
    • Have weekly 1-1 check-ins with Product Quality Assurance Coordinator; set yearly priorities; manage annual testing budget; triage day-to-day activity and prioritize tasks; update Category Managers and Director Category on product variance processes and timelines.
  • Lead effective collaboration for Shopper Engagement as the liaison with all NSLC Business Units in the design, development, and implementation of corporate initiatives.
    • Be the Shopper Engagement lead in cross-functional teams; attend meetings and share updates with the Director Category; consult with Shopper Engagement leadership on corporate initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the Customer Experience team on the communication and execution of listing initiatives by attending Regional Director meetings and participating in period execution calls with store teams and Shopper Engagement.
    • Ensure Master data elements are consistently applied across categories and interact with SAP BOS, the external website, and other data sources.
    • Ensure master data elements related to articles are understood and relevant to Customer Experience and Shopper teams.
  • Collaborate with NSLC teams on the execution of item master data processes.
    • Engage with Data Integrity and Reporting Analyst on data input accuracy and process improvements.
    • Improve handoff of information/data flow from listing coordinators to speed up processes.
    • Engage with other teams to streamline processes.
  • Lead Shopper Engagement readiness for ERP projects.
    • Understand current ERP usage, identify areas for improvement, and address strengths and weaknesses before the project begins.
  • Lead collaboration and act as a contact for Shopper Engagement in the ERP project.
    • Attend and contribute to all Shopper Engagement project meetings; prepare summaries and action plans; ensure timely information; provide weekly updates to Senior Leadership.
  • Develop and maintain processes for the Shopper Engagement team in collaboration with sub-teams, researching best practices in retail and comparing with peer jurisdictions.

Secondary Responsibilities

  • Perform other related duties as assigned; some travel required primarily within Nova Scotia

What you’ll need
Qualifications

As a qualified candidate you will have:

  • Minimum five years progressive management experience in merchandising and/or marketing in a retail environment
  • Knowledge of SAP or other ERP systems in a retail/merchandising environment with preference in ERP implementation

As the ideal candidate you will also have:

  • Five to ten years management experience in retail operations
  • Undergraduate degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or Retail Management

An alternate combination of education and experience may be considered equivalent.
