Summary

In this multi-site position, the Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing the entire maintenance department across all three Ontario facilities, including strategic planning, budgeting, and ensuring optimal equipment performance. This role focuses on long-term planning, process improvement, and leadership to support organizational goals. The Maintenance Manager will report directly to the General Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Strategic Planning & Asset Management: Develop, implement, and maintain preventative maintenance schedules for all production and facility equipment.
  • Establish and manage the annual maintenance budget, ensuring cost control, forecasting accuracy, and alignment with business goals.
  • Monitor equipment uptime, downtime, reliability data; develop action plans to improve asset performance and availability.
  • Coordinate maintenance planning and scheduling to minimize production disruption.
  • Process Improvement & Reliability: Lead the implementation of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), Lean Manufacturing, and reliability-focused maintenance practices.
  • Identify and implement improvements to maintenance processes, equipment performance, and overall plant efficiency.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, cost, and equipment effectiveness.
  • Support equipment upgrades, new installations, and commissioning activities to ensure maintainability and reliability.
  • Leadership & Team Development: Provide leadership, coaching, and technical guidance to maintenance supervisors and technicians.
  • Monitor and evaluate team performance, support training and skill development, and address performance issues as required.
  • Foster strong collaboration with Production, Engineering, and other departments to align maintenance priorities with operational objectives.
  • Safety, Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure compliance with all health and safety legislation, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Promote safe work practices, including lockout/tagout, contractor safety, and risk assessments.
  • Lead incident and accident investigations and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Ensure maintenance activities support quality and environmental standards (e.g., IATF, ISO 14001).
  • Budget, Inventory & Vendor Management: Manage maintenance spending, spare parts inventory, and service contracts to support reliable operations and cost efficiency.
  • Work with vendors, contractors, and OEMs to support maintenance activities and improvement initiatives.
  • Reporting & Communication: Track and report maintenance KPIs, budget performance, and improvement progress to leadership.
  • Communicate maintenance plans, priorities, and risks effectively across the organization.
  • Other Duties: Perform other duties as required to support departmental and organizational objectives.
  • Follow and comply with all Operational Procedures and policies as outlined in the Employee Handbook, and Quality and Environmental programs (e.g., IATF, ISO 14001).
Education, Skills and Abilities
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Management, or a related field (preferred).
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in maintenance management within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of robotic systems, mechanical and electrical equipment, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Proven experience in budget management and strategic planning.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
