About You / What We Are Looking For
The City of Coquitlam is seeking an experienced, strategic, and collaborative leader to serve as Senior Manager, Facilities, reporting to the General Manager, Community Services. In this senior leadership role, you will provide expert advice and direction on facility-related matters and play a critical role in advancing the City’s asset management strategies and facility operations. You bring extensive experience leading complex facility and asset management portfolios, along with the judgment and independence required to manage a broad and diverse range of responsibilities. You will be a trusted advisor to senior leadership and Council, capable of preparing strategic and operational plans aligned with Council priorities and effectively translating complex technical and operational information into clear, actionable guidance for non-technical decision-makers through written reports and presentations. You thrive in a collaborative municipal environment and work effectively across departments to ensure City facilities are maintained to a high standard of safety, service, and efficiency. This role requires a high degree of independent responsibility, sound political and organizational acumen, and a commitment to creating a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement across the Facilities division.
What You Will Do
Prepare written communications and reports for Council and provide expert professional advice on facility-related matters. Lead the creation and implementation of strategies, policies, and practices that support effective asset management and facility operations aligned with the City’s vision. Plan, assign, and supervise the work of the Facilities division. Foster a culture of excellence through prioritized work plans and budgets. Ensure compliance with building designs, codes, specifications, contracts, procurement policies, service standards, and legislation. Provide technical support including risk assessment, value engineering, costing, scheduling, budgeting, and life-cycle analysis. Resolve complex issues related to capital construction, asset management, and facility operations. Prepare and administer capital and operating budgets. Represent the department at Council, Committee, and interest holder meetings. Lead staff performance and development within the Facilities division.
