Qualifications

  • Minimal relevant business work experience in quant groups.

Job Description

The Stress Testing & Credit Provisioning team provides Senior Management within Risk Management, Finance, Business units (including: Capital Markets, Canadian Banking, I&TS, Wealth Management, Insurance, and legal entities) and Investor Relations with expert analysis and guidance on the Bank's stress testing and credit provision, includes IFRS9, and CECL and Stress testing program.

Team also provides support for the review & analysis of RBC’s Enterprise Wide Stress Testing (EWST) results that are used in Board level risk appetite statements.

The Manager, Stress Testing & Credit Provisioning will be executing production reporting processes, evaluating SOX control and assisting to enhance process efficiencies and reduce operational risks. As the subject matter expert on IFRS9, and CECL and EWST data, you will be interacting with model implementation teams to understand the data lineage for IFRS9 and, CECL and EWST calculations.

What will you do?
  • Assist in the execution and maintenance of time sensitive IFRS9 and CECL live production runs
  • Assist in maintaining reporting infrastructure for the analysis of IFRS9 and, CECL & Enterprise-Wide Stress Testing (EWST).
  • Assist in the timely production of the Allowance Committee decks that are critical for the approval of the allowances by the Committee. The reported numbers have a direct impact on the balance sheet and the income statements of every business line across RBC.
  • Working closely with Credit Provision Analysis and Measurement (CPAM), Stress Testing (ST), IFRS9 model and IFRS9 system teams, understand & deliver the required analyses and best practices for the reporting.
  • Continuously review and streamline current reporting processes and explore new technology for the enhancement.
  • Have a strong governance control mindset and attention to detail, to ensure correct and representative information is presented for internal & external reviews of allowances.
What do you need to succeed?
Must Have
  • Undergraduate, and preferably graduate, degree in a quantitative discipline such as physics, mathematics, statistics, engineering, economics, econometrics, actuarial science, finance and/or relevant professional qualifications, with focus on quantitative statistical and analytical skills.
  • Minimal relevant business work experience in quant groups (risk, front office, etc.) in the financial industry. Academic and/or other industry experience will be considered based on relevance.
  • More than 3-5 years programming experience with tools such as SAS, Python Excel/VBA etc.
  • Knowledge of database structure and management (SQL, SAS, etc.).
  • Quick learner with outstanding conceptual, analytical, and problem solving skills, with an ability to work towards challenging deadlines and deliver under pressure.
Nice to Have
  • Professional designation in Accounting, Finance or Risk Management is preferred, but not required – e.g. CPA, CFA, or FRM etc.
  • Strong ability to communicate, verbally and in writing, complex concepts in non-technical terms to business segment Finance and senior business segment leaders.
  • Demonstrated self-starter and leader (versus solely a delegator) who can tailor analysis to required level of precision
  • A thorough understanding of relevant accounting and regulatory rules and requirements (IFRS 9, Basel) preferred.
