Job Description Summary:
This role is part of Coca-Cola's dairy processing/bottling plant in Peterborough, Ontario, manufacturing Fairlife products in Canada.
The primary role of the Maintenance Technician - II is to provide safe, timely, reliable, and cost-effective troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair services for processing, high-speed packaging, and facilities equipment to support plant operations. The technician must diagnose, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair breakdowns in processing equipment, high-speed packaging lines, facilities, electrical, automation, instrumentation, and control systems. The technician should be capable of troubleshooting independently, pinpointing problems, and working with team members to resolve recurring issues.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and rebuild processing equipment, high-speed bottling/packaging lines, and facilities equipment such as separators, pasteurizers, membranes, control valves, blow molders, fillers, sleever, case packers, palletizers, compressors, pumps, AHUs, cooling towers, etc.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot Variable Frequency & Servo Drives, PLCs, HMIs, sensors, actuators, instruments, network devices, contactors, motor starters, electrical systems, etc.
- Repair and replace faulty electrical, control, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical components to ensure reliable plant operations.
- Perform troubleshooting, repairs, preventive maintenance, or modifications according to manufacturer specifications.
- Execute cleaning, lubrication, inspection, and calibration routines for plant equipment.
- Test plant equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using meters and analyzers, and replace faulty components to maintain operation.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, including confined space entry, work at height, lockout-tagout, and hazardous materials handling.
- Document maintenance activities and procedures in maintenance software, and collaborate with team members to improve equipment performance.
- Maintain records and manage inventory for maintenance and calibration activities.
- Update drawings, manuals, backups, and procedures as needed.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives, identify and execute improvement projects, and demonstrate problem-solving skills.
- Gain comprehensive knowledge of plant processing, packaging lines, and sanitation equipment.
- Supervise contractors during installations and routine operations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Valid 433A Red Seal Certification.
- At least 2 years of experience in industrial maintenance roles.
- Experience in food manufacturing, dairy, or automated high-speed processing is an asset.
- Proficiency with CMMS SAP or similar systems.
- Skilled in troubleshooting with Siemens, Allen Bradley, and other software.
- Ability to read and interpret piping, instrumentation diagrams, schematics, PLC, and HMI programs.
- Experience in repairing pumps, valves, heat exchangers, hydraulic/pneumatic systems, compressors, motors, and power transmission systems.
- Familiarity with PLC and HMI software and online troubleshooting skills.
- Practical skills in welding, drilling, lathe work, grinding, and metalworking tools.
- Flexible to work shifts, weekends, holidays, and on-call as needed.
- Willingness to cross-train in other departments.
- Physical ability to stand for long periods, work at heights, in refrigerated environments, confined spaces, and narrow areas.
- Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
- Valid passport and willingness to travel outside Canada.
