GENERAL FUNCTION

Based in our Toronto office, reporting to the Director - Industrial Lab, this role will work from 8:30 am to 05:00 pm, Monday to Friday (40 hours per week), with flexibility based on business requirements.

You will be responsible for the optimal functioning of the company's equipment, materials, and infrastructure in the Toronto Hub. Your duties include managing subcontracting and overseeing preventive and curative maintenance operations of equipment with the Maintenance team under your leadership.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Master automated equipment, facility equipment, industrial processes, and technologies required for production in the facility;
  • Develop and lead a preventive maintenance program for all production and facility equipment, executed on a standardized schedule to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime;
  • Create and manage an equipment spare parts program, including inventory, budgeting, and cost control;
  • Ensure all equipment is maintained to the highest standards and operates according to standardized mechanical, operational, and process settings;
  • Monitor equipment to identify components nearing failure and schedule repairs accordingly;
  • Develop a team of trained technicians capable of troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, electrical, software, and facility support equipment malfunctions;
  • Manage, supervise, and motivate staff, promoting their professional development;
  • Ensure quality of work from support teams, including internal and external contractors;
  • Comply with all safety regulations, policies, and procedures at local, provincial, and federal levels;
  • Adhere to quality policies and practices through sound quality assurance principles;
  • Master CMMS and internal maintenance management programs;
  • Develop and manage maintenance budgets and plan investments;
  • Assist in negotiations with suppliers;
  • Manage the equipment and spare parts inventory;
  • Identify technical solutions to improve equipment and facilities;
  • Validate specifications and maintenance subcontracting contracts;
  • Perform other tasks as required.
    QUALIFICATIONS
    • Bachelor's degree in mechatronics, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, automated production engineering, or equivalent experience;
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience working with complex, automated machinery in a production environment;
    • Proven managerial, organizational, and anticipatory skills;
    • Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma methodologies;
    • Experience with vendor relationship management;
    • Strong negotiation and conflict management skills;
    • Experience in installation, repair, and troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, PLC, and PC-based control systems;
    • Experience with predictive maintenance metrics like MTBF, MTTR, OEE, TPM;
    • Ability to adapt leadership and communication styles to various stakeholders;
    • Proficiency with standard computer tools.
