Responsibilities:

The selected candidate will perform the following functions:

  • Ensure compliance with the different rules and regulations for safety, operations, and Transport Canada.
  • Perform periodic and annual inspections and understand different regulations pertaining to inspections.
  • Wire, maintain, repair, rebuild, inspect, and install electrical equipment, including but not limited to rheostats, control systems, transformers, motors, generators, electric lighting fixtures, cab heaters, batteries and their charging systems, speed recorders, air compressor controls, temperature switches, starters, axle generators, coils, contactors, relays, and governors.
  • Responsible for preventative maintenance on all electrical components.
  • Troubleshoot and test single and three-phase electrical systems on diesel electric locomotives which include grounded components and wiring, high and low voltage, wheel slip, transition, and electrical load or no-load conditions.
  • Work safely.
  • Perform other duties as requested.

General Requirements:

  • Must possess a professional certificate in either the Electromechanical or Electrical field.
  • Must possess 3 years of relevant work experience.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to adapt to changing situations: working hours, service calls, overtime, tasks to accomplish, outside of the work location, etc.
  • Must possess a positive attitude and have ease in communicating with others.
  • Must be prepared to work in adverse weather conditions.
  • Demonstrate a high level of autonomy and resourcefulness.
  • Must possess experience or knowledge in programmable automation (asset).
