Position Summary

We are seeking a motivated Licensed Practical Nurse with a dedication for delivering compassionate patient care to join our team at North Haida Gwaii Hospital. Reporting to the Program Lead or Designate and working in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is responsible for providing nursing care to an assigned group of patients/residents according to established policies and procedures and the Standards of Practice for the Licensed Practical Nurses of British Columbia. The LPN functions as an independent practitioner, while recognizing situations such as increased patient acuity or care that falls outside the scope of an LPN as appropriate for accessing the RN/RPN for collaborative support and/or clinical intervention. The LPN assists patients/residents in meeting their physical, social, spiritual, and psychological needs consistent with the mission, vision, and values of Northern Health (NH) and established protocols. Participates in developing care plans, conducting assessments, implementing, and evaluating interventions, documenting information, and acting as an advocate for patients/residents. Participates in a variety of meetings including care conferences and assists with orientation of new staff and students as required. Responds and reports incidents according to established procedures and performs clerical duties as needed.

Northern Haida Gwaii Hospital and Health Centre

provides medical service to Old Masset, Port Clements and surrounding areas. The hospital and health centre has 4 Acute Care beds, 1 Palliative Care bed, 4 Long-term Care beds and a 4 unit assisted living complex. Some services provided at the hospital:

• Prenatal services with pregnancy registry

Masset

is situated along the shoreline of Masset Sound on Haida Gwaii, formerly known as the Queen Charlotte Islands, and is the largest village on the island. Major industries are logging, fishing and tourism. Masset provides services for a larger rural area with a population of 1,000 local residents and services a surrounding area of 2,300 including Tow Hill (unincorporated) and Old Masset (IR). incorporated in 1961, the Village of Masset (pop. 1,000) is the oldest of the island's municipalities. Qualfications

• Graduation from a recognized program for Practical Nurses or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Registration with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) as a practicing LPN registrant. Current basic cardiac life support certification.
