Overview

Our client, a well-known public accounting firm, is seeking a Leader of Training and Professional Standards to join their team. This is a unique opportunity to play a central role in building and maintaining a culture of continuous learning, professional excellence, and regulatory compliance within a respected organization. Reporting to the Partner of Standards and Training, the Leader of Training and Professional Standards will design, implement, and oversee training programs, ensure compliance with industry standards, and support the firms professional practice and quality control.

What Youll Be Responsible For
  • Reviewing assurance financial statements prior to release, ensuring compliance with applicable reporting frameworks.
  • Designing and delivering training for new hires and staff, aligned with industry regulations, firm standards, and best practices.
  • Updating and maintaining professional practice forms, manuals, and templates (including CaseWare).
  • Conducting annual file monitoring, inspections, and compliance testing in line with the System of Quality Management.
  • Collaborating with HR, Team Leaders, and subject matter experts to build high-quality, inclusive learning programs.
  • Partnering with national and external training providers to integrate updated standards and resources.
  • Serving as administrator of the Learning Management System and supporting firm knowledge management.
  • Coordinating CPA Ontario inspections, peer file reviews, and external professional development sessions.
Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or related discipline; Canadian CPA, CA (or internationally trained accountant pursuing Canadian CPA)
  • Minimum 5 years post-qualification, with strong technical expertise in accounting, auditing, and financial statement disclosures.
  • Deep knowledge of Canadian accounting standards, regulations, and ethics.
  • Strong leadership, facilitation, and communication skills.
  • Proven experience designing and delivering training programs using adult learning principles.
  • Analytical, detail-oriented, and solutions-driven.
