  • Location: FinDev Canada headquarters is in downtown Montreal. For the right candidate, Ottawa or Toronto will be considered, with the flexibility to work under a hybrid model (home / office).

  • Salary: Investments 20: Salaries typically range from $127,380 - $212,298 annually plus a performance-based incentive.
What You Will Be Doing
  • Lead and Innovate: Lead the design and implementation of risk sharing mechanisms, including unfunded credit protection products, and insurance solutions. Lead the development of mobilization products and strategy to support key sectors such as infrastructure, agribusiness and financial intermediaries.
  • Excellence in Underwriting: Structure and negotiate risk-sharing agreements to enhance the risk-return profile of transactions. Lead syndication and co-financing efforts, including pricing analysis, investor presentations, and deal documentation. Provide advice to the investment teams to structure transactions that are attractive to co-investors and aligned with market standards.
  • Partnership Development: Collaborate with a diverse array of stakeholders and financing partners to facilitate private sector investment in emerging markets. Monitor market trends and investor appetite to inform mobilization strategies and product offerings.
  • Leadership and Guidance: Contribute to the development and implementation of a long-term strategy for FinDev Canada’s mobilization activities. Coach and mentor team members, contributing to a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning.
  • Operational Excellence: Collaborate with risk management and legal teams to ensure appropriate due diligence, documentation, and compliance in risk transfer operations. Monitor the performance and impact of risk sharing instruments and integrate lessons learned into future structuring efforts. Track mobilization metrics and prepare reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Capacity Building: Actively support capacity building and knowledge sharing to internal stakeholders on mobilization activities, enhancing their skills and knowledge to support our mission. Support knowledge sharing with external parties.
  • External Engagement: Identify and maintain strong relationships with a diverse group of private capital providers, including banks, insurance companies and asset managers, to expand the mobilization pipeline. Represent FinDev Canada with external stakeholders at relevant events.
What We Are Looking For

Must-haves

Experience:

  • Minimum 12 years of experience in originating, structuring and managing transactions in a DFI / MDB or banking context.
  • Experience of blended finance transactions with a commercial understanding of the risk / return assessment within a concessional capital context.

Educational Background: Master’s Degree with a specialization in Business, Finance, Accounting, or equivalent.

Language Proficiency: Strong preference for fluency in both official languages (English & French) and / or Spanish.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Advanced knowledge of structuring in commercial lending and / or equity investments in developing markets.
  • Sound networking and relationship management skills.
  • Excellent problem solving, communication and presentation skills.
  • Excellent organizational, administrative and time management skills.

Business Travel: Willingness to travel.
