In support of achieving excellence and business results through safe, reliable operations, our Human Resources Division is currently hiring for a Labour Relations Specialist.

This is a temporary position which may be for a period of up to 24 months, offers a competitive compensation package and is located on-site in Tiverton, Ontario.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership in day-to-day labour relations interfaces with leaders, union representatives, and legal counsel.

  • Administer and interpret and advise on interpretation and application of collective agreements, policies, arbitration awards, settlements, and legislative changes.

  • Drive dispute resolution navigating internal and external resolution processes (grievance meetings, mediations, arbitrations and various joint resolution forums).

  • Actively participate in collective bargaining preparation activities including analysis, language drafting and costings.

  • Develop and deliver labour relations training and guidance for various audiences.

  • Analyze and report LR metrics and trends; forecast issues and recommend strategies.

  • Continuously monitor labour environment (internal and external), translate insights into actionable strategies, and document learnings within the knowledge base for the team.

Specific Accountabilities
  • Dispute Resolution: Analyze grievance trends, collaborate with managers and union leaders to drive resolution, prepare briefs and settlements, and monitor implementation with strong documentation.
  • Project Management: Develop and execute plans for case management and collective bargaining preparation.
  • Leader Enablement: Provide training and tools to supervisors on grievance handling and fair discipline practices.
  • Analytics & Reporting: Monitor LR metrics, identify trends, and deliver insights to mitigate risk.

Education and Experience
  • Completion of a university degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Progressive experience in labour relations within a unionized environment; multi-union experience is an asset.
  • Knowledge of Ontario labour and employment legislation.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • CHRP/CHRL designation is an asset.
