Working primarily within Black & McDonald’s existing client base in the Greater Hamilton area, the Junior Project Coordinator position is focused around supporting the plumbing and electrical department through safety & quality assurance activities, reporting, document creation & management, estimating support, project support and client coordination. This role requires strong communication and problem‑solving skills, as well as the ability to coordinate and prioritize tasks effectively.
Responsibilities
- Manage the Cross Connection Control (Backflow Prevention), Thermography (IR) and High‑Voltage preventative maintenance programs. Including collecting data from the field, ensuring accuracy, updating reports and interaction with the relevant client or AHJ (authority holding jurisdiction) for submission/feedback.
- Suggest and champion improvements for PM programs, including utilization of new technologies for efficiency, analysis and improved accuracy.
- Assist Department Manager, Field Team Leads, and service coordinators with coordination and support of labour, service call prioritization, and scheduling of Preventative Maintenance and Projects.
- Coordinate with project team and service coordinators on upcoming project work, to ensure required resources, internally (peers, operations, manpower, field technicians, etc.) & externally (clients, suppliers, sub‑contractors, consultants, authorities, etc.) are available.
- Assist project representatives, project managers and field team leads to ensure sold projects are delivered & executed safely, to quality standards and in a timely manner while keeping within scope and budget.
- Work with Operations team on proactive recommendations for clients, and help prepare technician recommendation estimates (#4s) and client facing documents.
- Assist with/perform requisition of purchase orders, invoicing, insurance certificates, prepare notice of project, Form1000’s and other authority requirements (e.g. ESA, TSSA, MoL).
- Collaborate with external contractors and service providers to obtain quotes, schedule repairs, and ensure work is completed to high standards.
- Attend client/project sites as required to verify/execute work, liaise with clients/other divisions, support sales or client initiatives.
- Analyse available information & data to help prepare client improvement strategies – help identify gaps & opportunities (client reviews).
- Responsible for solving problems and/or conflicts in a professional manner while maintaining open and timely communication with the customer.
- Preparation & management of project/technical documentation – sales, execution schedules, project close‑out, equipment list updates, drawings/layouts, etc.
- Create & update drawings to assist with client asset management, as‑built records and project sales.
- Assemble safety boards, assist with safety plans & monitoring of related safety activity.
- Assemble & prepare presentations through Microsoft PowerPoint.
- Photo documentation & management.
- Assist with asset management, labeling, planning.
- Attend regular service sales & safety meetings.
- Other duties as assigned.

Education Requirements
Post Secondary degree or diploma in any of the following or similar fields:
- Mechanical/Electrical engineering, Energy systems & sustainability,
- Construction & project management
- Technical trade(s) – HVAC/R, Electrician, Plumber, etc.
Work Experience Requirements
- 1-3 years’ experience in a related field is an asset
- Knowledge in Plumbing, Electrical, and HVAC/R an asset
- Security clearance requirements including criminal background check
Work Environment
- Southwest Ontario – Oakville (Halton) up to Orangeville, East of Woodstock, South to Niagara/Fort Erie
- Driving in this region to get to/from relevant sites
- Office – desk/computer, meeting rooms, back shop, sea containers
- Home – remote working, computer
- Client sites – mechanical rooms, process areas, roofs, warehouses, office spaces, classrooms, meeting halls, etc.
- Supplier facilities – parts, material pick‑ups, warehouses, shops
Skills And Abilities
- General knowledge of the built environment (building/facility/process) mechanical, heating, cooling, plumbing, electrical, energy systems including related standards & good practice
