Qualifications

Location & Onsite Flexibility: Toronto, ON — Hybrid (4 days onsite, 1 day remote)

Contract Duration: 1 year

Start: As Soon As Possible

Schedule: Monday–Friday, core business hours

Hours: 37.5 hours/week (7.5 hours/day)

Pay Rate: C$90 - 95/hr

Role Overview

The Senior Business / Data Analyst is a hands-on subject matter expert within the Treasury Technology team, responsible for designing, implementing, and enhancing Asset & Liability Management (ALM) solutions. This role blends advanced data analysis, financial domain knowledge, and technical execution to translate complex capital management business rules into scalable technology solutions within an agile delivery model.

Responsibilities
  • Translate capital management business rules into detailed technology requirements, mappings, and controls, including traceability matrices
  • Author user stories and acceptance criteria using JIRA and Confluence
  • Develop and maintain data lineage, data catalogs, and governance documentation to support compliance and audit readiness
  • Prepare test plans and cases; lead QA, triage, and validation activities
  • Conduct data discovery and profiling to ensure data completeness, accuracy, and quality
  • Perform hands-on work with data platforms, integration pipelines, and testing methodologies
  • Create data and process flows using Visio, Confluence, and similar tools
  • Utilize SQL for analysis across large datasets and apply big-data concepts
  • Maintain a strong understanding of financial products and capital management impacts
  • Collaborate with Business Systems Analysts, technical teams, stakeholders, and POD members in an agile environment
Required Skills & Qualifications

Required (Hard Skills):

  • 7+ years of experience translating business rules into technology requirements with full traceability
  • Strong SQL skills with experience analyzing large and complex datasets
  • 7+ years of hands-on experience in data integration, testing methodologies, and documentation
  • Proven ability to create data/process flows and governance artifacts
  • Strong foundational understanding of financial products and capital management
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field

Required (Experience):

  • Prior banking or financial institution experience (mandatory)
  • Capital markets exposure required

Soft Skills:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent stakeholder management and collaboration abilities
Preferred / Nice-to-Have
  • Experience with Credit or Capital Calculation Engines, QRM, or market risk technology
  • Familiarity with Axiom for capital reporting
  • Experience with treasury systems or capital management platforms
  • CFA or FRM certification
  • Business Systems Analyst certification
Disqualifiers
  • Short-term contracts of 6 months or less
  • No prior banking or financial institution experience
