Overview

Intermediate / Senior Terrestrial Ecologist

CIMA+’s Earth and Environment team has adopted sustainability as a core value and prioritizes the environmental, social, and economic benefits of every project. We provide the full range of environmental services for clients in public and private sectors, integrating green solutions into infrastructure, buildings, transportation, and energy projects. This role supports projects in Southern Ontario with a hybrid work model (flexible hours, remote work options) and offices across the GTA (Kitchener, Guelph, Burlington, Mississauga, Spadina-Fort York, or Bowmanville). The position involves both office-based responsibilities and seasonal terrestrial fieldwork. Currently we are seeking candidates with demonstrated expertise in botany and bats.

This role offers room for professional growth, including opportunities to develop project and team management skills.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Conduct terrestrial field inventories.
  • Prepare environmental impact evaluation statements, design ecological studies, and author other technical documents.
  • Develop appropriate avoidance and mitigation measures.
  • Complete requests for authorizations and permits under the Endangered Species Act and Species at Risk Act.
  • Work with clients to find practical solutions that minimize impacts to the natural environment.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience focused on terrestrial ecology, preferably in a consulting environment.
  • Degree or diploma in Biology, Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, or equivalent experience.
  • Proven expertise in study design, data collection, natural environment assessments, mitigation, and / or monitoring.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant municipal, provincial, and federal legislation and policies.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
