Job summary

A technology education provider in Peel Region, Mississauga is seeking a passionate Software Engineer or AI/ML Developer to instruct our Level 1 AI & Machine Learning course. The instructor should have a strong foundation in Python and related libraries, along with some teaching experience. This is a paid contractor role at a rate of $1650 per week, contributing to shaping the future of AI education for learners aged 13-18. Candidates must be available from July 13-24, 2026, with additional training in June.

Qualifications

Job description

Circuit Stream is a leader in future technology skills training and learning content. We offer world‑class educational services for teen and adult learners with a focus on the skills needed to leverage immersive and emerging technology.

We are seeking a passionate Software engineer or AI/ML developer with a deep understanding of AI and machine learning to instruct our Level 1 AI & Machine Learning with Python course for learners aged 13‑18. In Level 1, students will be learning the algorithms and techniques behind recommendation systems, and how to combine it with a smart, interactive chatbot. The ideal instructor candidates for these courses should possess a strong foundation in Python 3, Python libraries (PyCharm Surprise, NumPy and Scikit‑learn), Open AI, machine learning algorithms, as well as some teaching, TA or training experience.

Level 1: AI & Machine Learning with Python (beginner course) is offered one time at U of T Mississauga campus: Instructors hired to teach this course must be available from 9:00 am‑3:30 pm MT from July 13‑24 (plus 1 week in June for training).

Candidates selected for interviews will be contacted starting in February 2026.

Responsibilities
  • Create lesson plans and lead engaging and comprehensive classroom sessions with teen learners following Circuit Stream's AI & Machine Learning with Python course curriculum for Level 1 or Level 2 (curriculum and Instructor guides provided)
  • Provide constructive feedback, guidance, and mentorship to students as they ideate, develop, and iterate on their final Chatbot project
  • Showcase proficiency in AI and Machine Learning concepts
  • Share real‑world experiences, case studies, and insights to offer students a holistic understanding of the field
  • Grade and provide feedback on assignments and final projects that accurately measure student understanding and progress within the course.
Requirements
  • Availability to teach during the day (from 9 am‑3:30 pm) in July 2026 (dates listed above)
  • Previous industry experience in software engineering or AI and Machine Learning specialties
  • Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field OR Masters students currently pursuing Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Computer Science.
  • Proficiency in Python (pandas and scikit‑surprise), machine learning concepts and OpenAI API
  • Strong presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to convey complex concepts in an accessible and engaging manner.
  • Innate logical thinking and the ability to inspire and nurture logical thinking in students
  • A passion for guiding and mentoring students, fostering their growth, and providing meaningful feedback
  • Willingness to adapt to evolving curriculum needs, industry trends, and emerging technologies
  • A collaborative attitude, eager to contribute to a positive and supportive team environment
  • A proactive attitude towards ongoing professional development and a willingness to learn and stay up‑to‑date with industry advancements
  • A strong portfolio of relevant work to showcase your skills and experience
  • Previous experience teaching coding to kids/teens or experience as a teaching assistant for university or college level courses
