Position Overview

Reporting to the Site Director or Site Lead, Human Resources Services, the Human Resource Consultant is responsible for the provision of human resource services including:

  • Management Support – performance management, attendance management.
  • Labour Relations - contract interpretation, application of progressive discipline up to and including dismissal, grievance handling, collective bargaining.
  • Employee Relations - application of progressive discipline, investigation of workplace complaints, conducting exit interviews.
  • Staffing - development of selection criteria and interview questions, participation on interview panels and providing feedback.
Experience
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in a unionized environment performing a broad range of Human Resource functions including: employee relations, labour relations, and staffing.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant field from a recognized post-secondary institution.
  • Certificate in Human Resource Management from a recognized post-secondary institution.
Certification/Licensure/Registration
  • Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation preferred.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Must be able to handle multiple priorities and competing demands.
Physical Requirements
  • Work is primarily in an office environment.

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.

The WRHA legal entity includes Churchill Health Centre, Deer Lodge Centre, Golden West Centennial Lodge, Grace Hospital, Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg, Pan Am Clinic, River Park Gardens, Victoria General Hospital, WRHA corporate programs, and WRHA community health services.
