Our Calgary head office is seeking an experienced Human Resources Advisor to support our diverse aviation operating companies. This is a full‑time, temporary position from January 2026 through April 2027 (16 months maternity leave backfill). This is an in‑office position with occasional travel to assigned bases and within YYC as required.
Description
Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, the Human Resources Advisor is responsible for providing support and assistance to management and staff regarding the application of HR programs, policies and processes. This position is customer service focused and should be the ‘Face of HR’ for their assigned client groups.
Responsibilities
- Support for Supervisors and Managers: Act as first point of contact and face of HR regarding HR functions for assigned client group(s):
- Assist with recruiting and staffing from advertising through to on boarding as required.
- Consult with supervisors/managers on the interpretation and administration of Human Resources programs, policies, and processes.
- Consult with supervisors/managers on employee relations including coaching and development, performance management, discipline, and terminations.
- Support for Employees: Act as HR’s first point of contact for employees regarding concerns or questions, review and/or investigate as required, and work with supervisors and managers to resolve matters.
- Disability Management:
- Partner with employee, management, safety, and HR regarding WCB administration, disability management programs and employee leaves including time off, medical documentation, employee accommodations and return to work programs.
- Complete WCB reporting within required reporting deadlines.
- Submit and manage disability claims with EFC’s Group Benefit provider.
- Interface with payroll and benefits administration, ensuring all required processes and paperwork are completed.
- Track all leave of absences and modified work accommodations through to return to work or return to full duties.
- Performance Management:
- Work with Supervisors/Managers to ensure competency/performance appraisal measures.
- Assist with investigations, coaching and mediation for performance related issues as required.
- Programs/Policy/Procedures/Training:
- Participate in the review, development, and implementation of programs, policies, procedures and training that result in a stronger organizational position, alignment with corporate values, compliance with relevant provincial and federal legislation/regulations, and achievement of business/operational objectives.
- Actively participate in administration of pay and employment equity programs.
- Actively participate in career development programs.
- Lead HR Representative and liaison for Corporate Health & Safety programs.

- Travel to sites as required.

Qualifications And Experience
- Certificate or Degree in Human Resources (or current enrolment in program).
- Minimum of four years of progressive human resources experience in a generalist capacity; requires ability and willingness to do ‘hands‑on’ generalist and administrative duties.
- Must have systems experience within house and third party HRIS and payroll applications; preferably Ceridian Dayforce.
- Well‑developed interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to communicate with individuals at all levels of the organization.
- Bilingual in French and English, both spoken and written, is an asset but not required.
- Strong relationship building skills and ability to function effectively in teams.
- Flexibility and proven experience in balancing competing priorities and juggling a variety of responsibilities.
- Experience and knowledge of Canada Labour Code regulations and Federal Labour standards and regulations is preferred.
- Strong problem solving and decision‑making skills, including the ability to exercise independent judgment.
- Strong time management, organizational, and prioritization skills, with high attention to detail.
- Self‑motivated and self‑directed with a demonstrated ability to work with minimum supervision in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment.
- Ability to work in a confidential capacity; high level of professionalism.
- Proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office suite.
- Professional, punctual, meticulous and diligent.
- Able to work both collaboratively and independently as a productive member of the team.
