Overview

Highway and Roadway Design Engineer, PEng

AECOM Edmonton is looking for a Highway and Roadway Design Engineer to add to its growing team.

Responsibilities
  • Lead design tasks of municipal roadway, provincial highway, and active transportation facilities projects for the City of Edmonton, Alberta Transportation as well as other local municipalities;
  • Preparation and review of geometric designs, design drawings, contract documents, engineering specifications and cost estimates for municipal road and highway engineering work;
  • Assist with business development activities and conduct / attend client meetings
  • Prepare correspondence, engineering reports, proposals, specifications and meeting minutes;
  • Ability to collaborate with a team of professionals, as well as liaise with clients and sub-consultants
  • The preparation / review of designs using computer design tools (e.g. CAD, transportation software);
  • Performs a wide-range of additional duties intended to support your growth and development within a transportation engineering environment;
  • Provide Quality Management reviews by ensuring corporate policies are followed and documented.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering + minimum 4 years experience in transportation design of roads and highways
  • P. Eng. Designation in Alberta, or eligible
  • Driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in the transportation design engineering field is preferred
  • Knowledge of applicable design standards including those published by TAC, Alberta Transportation, and City of Edmonton;
  • Experience with roadway geometric design software such as InRoads / OpenRoads MicroStation and / or Civil 3D / Autocad, Torus, Guidesign, and Autoturn;
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills in English, documentation and proposal writing skills;
  • Experience with City of Edmonton and / or Alberta Transportation will be considered an asset;
  • Knowledge of City of Edmonton and Alberta Transportation Standards for Tender Documents for Unit Price Contracts
  • Experience in construction contract administration will be considered an asset
  • Ability to work in both the in-person and virtual environment
Additional Information
  • Sponsorship for Canadian employment authorization is not available now or in the future for this position.

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $80,000.00 - $130,000.00.
