Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Diesel or Heavy Equipment Mechanic.
  • Certification as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic or equivalent is required.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect and diagnose heavy equipment for performance issues.
  • Repair and service damaged parts and attachments as needed.
  • Consult with other mechanics and supervisors for complex repairs.

Job description

LaPrairie Crane is one of Canada’s largest independent mobile-crane companies with fleet capabilities ranging from 5 – 600 tons, including all terrain, boom truck, carry deck, crawler, hydraulic truck, rough terrain, and tower cranes.

We are seeking applications from skilled and experienced Heavy Equipment Technicians who are interested in joining our growing team in Yorkton, SK.

Duties will include the following:
  • Inspecting heavy equipment for proper performance
  • Diagnosing faults using computerized testing equipment
  • Adjusting equipment and replacing faulty parts
  • Repairing damaged equipment parts
  • Cleaning, lubricating, and conducting routine services on heavy-duty and automotive vehicles
  • Repairing and servicing machine attachments
  • Performing major repair work when necessary
  • Consulting with other Mechanics and Supervisor when needed
  • Reporting damaged or faulty equipment to management
  • Performing other duties as required
Desired skills and Experience:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Certification as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic or Apprenticeship Documentation
  • CVIP License is considered an asset
  • Proven work experience as a Diesel or Heavy Equipment Mechanic
  • Understanding of computer testing technologies
  • Knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic & electrical systems, and construction equipment
  • Good communication skills
