Job description

Hanwoori Korean Restaurant is located at 5740 Imperial St, Burnaby, BC V5J 1G2. We are currently looking for a permanent, full time Head Chef (Korean Cuisine). If you are interested, please submit your resume by e-mail.

Wages: CAD$30.00-37.00 (depending on skills & experiences)

Types: Full-time, Permanent (various shifts, including evening, weekends, and holidays)

Working hours: 30~40 hours/week

Benefits: 4% of vacation pay

Job Duties:

  • Create and design authentic Korean recipes and menu items that highlight traditional flavors and cooking techniques;
  • Expand the menu offerings to reflect the unique culinary traditions from various regions of Korea
  • Plan and oversee food preparation and cooking processes, ensuring the use of traditional Korean cooking methods, such as fermentation, grilling, and stewing;
  • Maintain the highest quality standards for Korean cuisine, ensuring authentic recipes and presentation;
  • Estimate food needs and provide cost estimates for ingredients, labor, and other related expenses;
  • Supervise and guide the team of Korean sous-chefs and cooks, ensuring they are trained in the authentic Korean culinary techniques;
  • Arrange for equipment purchases and repairs;
  • Lead the recruitment and hiring of staff;
  • May prepare and cook traditional Korean food on a regular basis, or for special guests, functions, or guests with allergies.

Job requirements:

  • Completion of secondary school
  • Management training and 3-5 years of experience in commercial food preparation, including two years in a supervisory capacity and experience as a sous-chef, specialist chef or chef required.
  • Skills demonstration may be required.
  • Korean food cooking certificate an asset.
