Job Description

As a Sales Advisor, you'll be responsible for providing excellent customer service, welcoming and guiding customers through your store to actively sell our products and providing customers with support and guidance. You'll use your fashion and product knowledge to give customers all the relevant information they need for the best experience. You'll also work on garment refill and care, presentation, and contribute to a clean and tidy sales floor and back of house, working closely with the rest of your store team to deliver an excellent customer experience.

A Day in the Life

Working at H&M means no two days are ever the same, but a typical day will include the following responsibilities.

Customer Sales & Profit
  • Provide excellent customer service: welcoming and guiding customers through the store and OMNI experience where available, supporting them with direct customer service
  • Willingness to engage and have conversations with customers to provide excellent service
  • Guide customers through our fashion trends, stories and products in all areas of the store
  • Actively promote and sell our products to customers
  • Promote our Customer Loyalty App (Hello Member) and in‑store sustainability initiatives
  • Represent yourself and the H&M brand positively during all customer interactions
  • Support with commercial or operational actions to reach sales targets with the store management team
Fashion & Trend Awareness
  • Keep up‑to‑date with fashion scene, trends, tendencies, styles, brands, products, competitors and relevant influencers
  • Use your product and fashion knowledge to share relevant information with customers
Team & Development
  • Retain and share your service, fashion and store operations knowledge and skills with colleagues
  • Follow all procedures, routines and legal requirements in all areas of the store
  • Give and receive feedback with your colleagues to learn, develop and support each other
  • Participate in relevant available onboarding, introduction processes, trainings and courses relevant for your role and future development
Retail Operations / Visual & Commercial Execution
  • Complete full garment cycle from unpacking and refill to steaming and ensure good garment care
  • Operate fitting room and checkout areas according to best practice and processes
  • Contribute to a clean and tidy sales floor and back of house, including stockrooms
  • Support garment presentation, execution and maintain attractive merchandise displays, clear trends and stories according to visual and commercial guidelines
  • Ensure good stock levels with replenishment routines on the sales floor
  • Upkeep and follow best practice for any in‑store OMNI Services and in‑store tech services/tools, e.g. Instore Care App, Click & Collect, Smart Store
  • Support with opening and closing of the store
  • Follow all H&S guidelines and legal requirements applicable to role and responsibilities

Additional Information

Compensation: Salary range starting at $17.85 hourly**

Maki Assessment Tool

We use an online assessment tool called Maki for skills‑based selection of applicants for sales advisor positions within some of our stores. Maki is not an automated decision‑making tool. Rather, it is a tool that uses an AI‑created avatar to present to you a set of multiple‑choice questions. These questions are prepared by the H&M hiring team to assess candidates’ ability to perform the duties of the position for which they are applying. The assessment calculates your total score based on predefined point values provided by our H&M team. The hiring team will review your whole application, including your assessment score, to decide whether to advance each candidate to the next stage. Doing the assessment is optional. If you choose to complete the assessment, your score will be one factor that the hiring team considers.
