What You’ll Be Doing:

You will be an integral part of the Retirement team at XXXXX, working in a dynamic environment where you will make a meaningful difference in residents’ lives. As a Guest Attendant, you’ll develop a deep understanding of your residents and their living experience. You will build relationships with residents and their families, offering support options and programs that enrich their daily health and well-being. As part of a team, you will contribute to fostering a culture focused on helping residents live fully, every day.

The Guest Attendant reports to the Director of Wellness and supports residents with activities of daily living and housekeeping as assigned, always striving to provide exceptional service. This role may also assist with recreation programs at various locations.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting residents with activities of daily living (eating, dressing, transferring, toileting, hygiene, grooming, bathing) according to individual care plans, promoting independence and maintaining high functioning levels.
  • Responding promptly to call bells and door alarms, providing courteous service.
  • Transporting residents within the facility.
  • Performing laundry and housekeeping duties.
  • Dealing tactfully with residents and families, reporting concerns to supervisors.
  • Practicing safe food handling during food preparation and service.
  • Participating in resident admission and transfer processes.
  • Collaborating with other departments to ensure continuity of care.
  • Communicating with the Director of Wellness regarding resident care and safety issues.
  • Completing documentation and engaging residents in activities.
  • Maintaining personal grooming and professional appearance.
  • Ensuring the facility remains clean and presentable.
  • Greeting visitors positively and offering assistance.
  • Promoting positive communication and teamwork.
  • Reporting incidents and hazards promptly.
  • Following health and safety policies, including infection control and emergency procedures.
  • Participating in drills and educational sessions.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications:

    • Safe Serve certification and at least one year of dining room service experience.
    • Ability to work independently and in a team.
    • Current CPR and guest attendant training preferred.
    • Experience working with seniors and knowledge of aging.
    • Effective communication skills in English.

    Education:

    Minimum Grade 12 education.

    Working Conditions:

    • Variable lighting and exposure to outdoor elements.
    • Physical activities including lifting, pushing, pulling, crouching, and kneeling.
